Abstract
Fruits of pumpkin contain a lot of vitamins and can be used as a food, medicines and for feeding animals. A wide range of uses makes this culture very attractive. The interest of agricultural producers in Ukraine is growing in recent years. In 2018, the crop area under pumpkins in Ukraine increased almost twice as compared with 2017 and amounted to 1,000 hectares.
High yields, unpretentiousness and high demand make pumpkins attractive for large farms and small farms. The choice of machines for cleaning pumpkins depends on the technology chosen. The fruits are used for technical purposes, for seeds and for complex processing. The first two directions have become the largest development in Ukraine. This is due to the lack of technical means that allow the fruit to be harvested without damage. Means of mechanized harvesting of this culture require further development. The available harvesting and processing technologies for pumpkin contain manual operations.
Increasing the productivity of picking pumpkins is an urgent task. The analysis of the available technical means and patent information on this issue was carried out by the authors.
