Abstract
The separation process of bulk materials into fractions or separation process of mixture into components is widely distributed in agriculture, processing and food industry. Specialized equipment (separators) is used to carry out separation. Separators have a very various design. Separation is possible if the fraction of the bulk material or components of the mixture has different geometric parameters, physical-mechanical or aerodynamic properties, in particular different sizes or shape of the particles of the material or components, their mass, frictional properties, electrical conductivity etc. The most common methods of separation are separation by size and aerodynamic properties. These properties are well studied and the method of separation of most modern separators is based on taking into account these properties of bulk materials. In agriculture, processing and food industry the most common are separators which separate bulk materials or their mixtures with according one property, in particular size or shape. Separation by size and shape is the most common way of separation of bulk materials. This method is implemented with sieve separators of various designs. A review of the design of sieve separators allowed us to suggest their classification.
