Abstract

Dimensional wear of a cutting tool is a complex, complex phenomenon. There are several different wear mechanisms that act independently or in combination with each other. Four main types of wear are distinguished: abrasive, adhesive, diffusion and fatigue. However, so far none of the researchers has been able to accurately, exclusively theoretically, predict the intensity of wear of a cutting tool and its influence on the geometric dimensions of the machined parts. Therefore, to determine the time characteristics of the reliable intensity of tool wear in the specific conditions of this technological system, it is necessary to resort to experimental studies. Among the processing modes, the cutting speed has the greatest impact on the stability period of the cutting tool, and therefore on its wear rate. The results of experimental studies using the approved method of determining the dimensional wear of the cutting tool and its influence on the accuracy of processing a batch of parts are presented. The results obtained can be used in studies with other tools when processing other grades of materials and processing modes.
