Publication ethics
The ethical standards adhered to by the journal "Prospective Technologies and Devices" are based on the principles of honesty, scientific responsibility and international rules of academic communication. All editorial processes are focused on ensuring quality, protecting the rights of authors and complying with the requirements of global professional organizations, including COPE and the Elsevier PERK ethical recommendations.
1. Principles of responsible editorial activity
The editorial board ensures a correct and impartial attitude towards all authors, supports professional dialogue and ensures that no materials are published without careful verification. All decisions on publication are made taking into account the scientific significance of the work, and not the personal or political views of the authors.
The editors undertake to:
• observe confidentiality, not to disclose any data of the manuscript;
• not to change the text without the consent of the author;
• not to allow plagiarism, duplication or materials of dubious scientific level.
The editorial board works according to the principle of double-blind review and involves professional, independent experts.
2. Principles of honest academic review
Reviewers participate in shaping the scientific level of the journal, therefore they must:
• provide an impartial and professional assessment;
• adhere to the review deadlines;
• not transfer the manuscript to third parties;
• refrain from using any results from the manuscript;
• notify the editorial office of the inconsistency of the manuscript with their specialization or of suspicion of violation of ethical norms.
If a conflict of interest is detected, the reviewer immediately informs the editorial office and refuses to evaluate the material.
3. Author's responsibility
Authors ensure the intellectual integrity of their own research. They are obliged to:
• submit results that are new, reliable and original;
• correctly cite all borrowed materials;
• avoid auto- and mutual plagiarism;
• not submit the manuscript to other publications for consideration in parallel;
• notify the editorial office of significant shortcomings identified after publication.
The authors agree that after acceptance for publication, the article may be included in electronic databases with mandatory indication of authorship.
4. Ethical requirements for research involving human participants
Studies involving surveys, interviews, or experiments with human subjects must comply with international standards of ethical control and be approved by the appropriate ethics committee or IRB. Authors must confirm:
• voluntary participation of respondents;
• obtaining written informed consent;
• adherence to the principles of confidentiality, anonymity, and security.
It is recommended to refer to documents such as ASA (1997), EU Ethics & Data Protection (2021), ICC/ESOMAR Code (2025).
If ethical approval is not required, authors should explain this by providing an appropriate legal or institutional argument.
5. Handling of conflicts of interest and ethical appeals
The editorial board has the authority to investigate:
• copyright infringement;
• unethical research practices;
• disputes regarding data or methodology;
• complaints from readers, reviewers, or other parties.
In the event of confirmed serious violations, the editorial board may make a correction, publish a notice, or withdraw the article. Decisions are accompanied by information to readers, if necessary.
6. Authorship policy
All co-authors must confirm that:
• they participated in the development of the concept, collection, or analysis of data;
• they participated in the preparation or substantial editing of the manuscript;
• they approved the final text;
• they agree to be responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the work.
Individuals whose contributions do not meet the authorship criteria are mentioned in the Acknowledgements section.
7. Principles of submission
Submission of a manuscript means that:
• it has not been published before;
• it is not being proposed for another publication;
• all authors have approved its submission;
• after acceptance it will not be duplicated in another form.
8. Data openness policy
The journal supports the openness of scientific results, but at the same time respects the rights of authors. Primary data can be provided upon request through the editorial office. Access is provided only with the consent of the author. Confidential, legally restricted or sensitive data may not be available.
All requests are made through the official journal email address.
9. Post-publication discussion
The journal supports open scientific dialogue and encourages discussion of materials on PubPeer. All articles receive a DOI, which ensures the possibility of their independent discussion. Any substantiated comments expressed on the platform are reviewed by the editorial board in accordance with ethical procedures.
10. Advertising policy
The journal does not place advertising, which ensures absolute editorial independence and the absence of commercial influence on the content.
11. Funding declaration
Authors must openly indicate all sources of support, including:
• grant programs,
• state or non-state organizations,
• commercial structures,
• institutional funding.
In the absence of such, “The study did not receive funding” is indicated in the appropriate section of the article.
12. Privacy Policy
The journal "Prospective Technologies and Devices" guarantees complete confidentiality of all materials submitted by authors. Any manuscripts, data, names of authors and reviewers are considered private information and are not transferred to third parties, except for those directly involved in the editorial process. Unpublished materials are not used by the editorial staff or reviewers in their own research. All electronic files and communications are stored and transmitted through secure channels, which ensures the protection of personal data and copyright.
