Publication withdrawal policy
The journal “Prospective Technologies and Devices” adheres to strict principles of academic integrity and upholds high standards of scientific publications. We actively combat violations such as plagiarism, data falsification and citation manipulation. All violations of academic ethics will be promptly investigated and appropriate measures will be taken in accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) standards.
1. Resubmission of manuscripts
Authors must submit to the journal unique manuscripts that have not been submitted for consideration in other journals at the same time. In case of violation of this requirement, for example, when resubmitting the same document to several journals or submitting several documents based on the same study, this may be considered a violation of the policy. Resubmission can take various forms:
– literal copying;
– partial but significant copying;
– paraphrasing.
Such violations will lead to immediate rejection of the manuscript and possible sanctions against the authors.
2. Citation manipulation
Any attempt to manipulate the number of citations in order to increase references to one’s own work or to work published in a particular journal will be considered a violation of ethics. Detected citation manipulation will lead to immediate rejection of the manuscript and possible sanctions.
3. Data falsification
If fabricated or manipulated data, including manipulation of images or experimental results, are found in a submitted manuscript, the manuscript will be rejected. This may also lead to serious sanctions against authors, including retraction of an already published article.
4. Investigation and sanctions for violations
In case of suspicion of violations of academic ethics or fraud, the journal will conduct a thorough investigation, guided by COPE and other relevant guidelines. If reasonable suspicions are found after the investigation, the editorial board will contact the authors to discuss the situation. The following measures may be taken based on the results of the investigation:
– if the manuscript is still under review, it may be rejected and returned to the author;
– if the article has already been published, depending on the seriousness of the violation, a decision may be made to retract the article.
5. Corrections and error reporting
– corrections may be published if fundamental errors (e.g., experimental errors or computational errors) are identified that do not change the scientific essence of the work but require clarification;
– an erratum will be published if the error was made through the fault of the journal, for example, due to failure to make corrections requested by the authors;
– a corrigendum is used when the error was made by the authors of the article. All corrections must be approved by the journal editorial board.
6. Correction procedure
Corrections may be initiated by authors, editors, or readers. The editorial board evaluates the request for corrections, consults with the authors and, after approval, publishes the corrections as a separate document marked “Correction”, which will be linked to the original article.
7. Retraction of the article
Retraction is a last resort and may be applied in the following cases:
– clear evidence that the research results are not reliable due to falsification or manipulation of data;
– re-publication of results without proper references or without an appropriate license;
– evidence of plagiarism or authorship fraud;
– violation of ethical standards in the review process.
The decision to retract is made by the editor-in-chief or his deputy, after conducting an investigation.
8. Cases of publication manipulation
Mass manipulation (“paper mills”): if it is discovered that an article is part of publications compromised through “paper mills” or other fraudulent practices, the editorial board may decide to collectively retract these publications.
Use of artificial intelligence: The hidden use of artificial intelligence tools to generate texts or images is considered a violation and may lead to retraction. Authors must openly declare the use of such tools. Failure to disclose this information may lead to retraction. The editorial team reserves the right to check manuscripts for the use of generative AI systems using automated detection tools, peer review, and additional requests to authors.
Authorship falsification: in case of confirmation of false authorship or use of someone else's personal data (name, ORCID, etc.), the article may be retracted.
9. Expression of Concern
If there are serious concerns about the authenticity of an article or a violation of academic integrity, but there is insufficient evidence to warrant an immediate retraction, the journal may publish an expression of concern. Such an expression has its own DOI and will be attached to the original article until the investigation is complete.
10. Promptness and availability of retracted articles
The decision to publish corrections, statements of concern or retractions will be made by the editorial team and implemented as soon as possible after the violations are identified. All retracted articles will remain publicly available with a clear “Retract” label. Full removal is only possible in exceptional cases, in particular when required by data protection or copyright laws, court orders or security considerations.
