Use of worn tires from the aspects of economic and environmental use
Abstract
After the transition of tire production from natural materials to the production of synthetic tires, the world approached the problem of accumulation of used tires every year. Accordingly, from that time to today, there have been implemented methods of recycling tires that are economically beneficial and ecologically appropriate. Which will be given in the article and analyzed for their relevance in our time.
An important task is the accumulation of used tires, due to their storage and disposal - this is becoming a global environmental problem. The high environmental danger of worn tires is caused, on the one hand, by the toxic properties of the materials from which they are made, and on the other hand, by the properties of more than a hundred chemicals released into the environment during operation, maintenance, repair, and storage of tires. The creation of a large-scale industry for the recycling of automobile tires is the most important economic task, the solution of which will lead to the development of a significant recycling system, that is, the improvement of the ecological situation.
This article provides information on the possible ways of using old car tires, the accumulation and disposal of which cause significant problems for the environment. The main areas of use of used tires are: use of whole tires and parts of tires, destruction of old tires at high temperatures, pyrolysis, use of used tires as fuel in the cement industry, energy and heat production, production of secondary rubber and production of rubber crumb. There are two fundamentally different types of technological processes for the processing of worn tires. Nowadays, rubber processing methods are mainly used, which ensure the maximum preservation of the chemical component, with the aim of producing rubber-containing products from recovered rubber.
Key words: used car tires, main areas of use, disposal, polluting the environment, used tires.
