Problem Issues of Organizational and Technical Development of Grain Transportation by Road Transport in Ukraine

Abstract

Ukraine is one of the world's leading grain producers. The agricultural share of Ukraine's gross domestic product in 2023 was 17%. Active hostilities on the territory of Ukraine have led to dramatic changes in the operating conditions of the country's agricultural sector, which in turn has led to changes in plans and complications in the conditions for doing agricultural business, a reduction in sowing areas and export opportunities, an increase in the share of grain exports to the European market through the use of road and rail freight due to the limited capacity of large seaports, and an increase in the role of road transport in ensuring the transportation of grain crops within the country. Logistics costs in Ukraine account for 30-50% of production costs.

The article, based on the analysis of statistical data, reveals the general situation with the existence of problems and factors affecting the organizational and technical development of grain crops transportation by road in Ukraine. As a result of the analysis of cause-and-effect relationships, the author proposes to use the logistics potential to significantly reduce the costs of enterprises, which largely depend on the level of development of the logistics infrastructure, logistics outsourcing, and the degree of compliance of the performed logistics functions and operations with international standards and norms. Compliance of the logistics functions performed with international standards will help to increase the competitiveness of Ukrainian products, create favorable conditions for their export, and integrate Ukrainian enterprises into the global market.

Key words: road transport, organizational and technical development, logistics, transportation efficiency, production and sale of grain crops.
