The article reviews the latest advances in technologies for processing fallen leaves and other raw materials of natural origin into biofuel briquettes or pellets or other biocomposite materials and eco-friendly products based on them for household needs and the needs of modern industry. We present a summary of experimental results with the determination of the influence of humidity, type and amount of viscous components on the physico-mechanical and thermochemical properties of briquettes, as well as studies of the kinetics of decomposition during pyrolysis and combustion. Modern approaches to thermochemical pretreatment are also considered, in particular hydrothermal carbonization, which optimizes the quality of pellets produced from leaf biomass. The paper compares the quality parameters of pellets, regardless of whether they are produced without the addition of viscous components or with their help, and also covers the prospects for their use for sustainable energy supply and optimization of logistics processes in cities.
