The article reviews current trends in the implementation of BIM in architectural and civil projects, and assesses the effectiveness of teamwork. Based on the provided statistical data, it was determined that about 70% of construction companies worldwide use BIM technologies [1]. Popular software was analyzed, including Autodesk Revit, Graphisoft ArchiCAD, Bentley OpenBuildings Designer and Allplan Architecture, with Revit remaining the leader among software products. The main problems that were identified at the first stage of the literature review are the lack of unified data exchange standards, limited compatibility between platforms and the complexity of cooperation in multidisciplinary groups. Particular attention was paid to the features of their implementation at different architectural stages, from conceptual urban planning to the proper formation of digital twins. The main advantage of BIM was determined to be the ability of specialists of different profiles to interact in one digital model, thereby increasing the accuracy, consistency and efficiency of project implementation. A team-building efficiency comparison simulation was conducted using the cloud platforms Autodesk BIM360, Graphisoft BIMcloud, Bentley ProjectWise, and Trimble Connect. The study results show that Autodesk Construction Cloud provides the highest degree of integration, version control, and data security, while Bentley is best suited for large infrastructure projects. In addition, the importance of combining BIM and GIS (geographic information system) for the sustainable development of “smart urbanization”, improving the management of urban resources and spatial data, and successfully implementing a unified city concept was also emphasized. Recommendations were provided for the selection of software depending on the type and complexity of the project.
