Publication withdrawal policy
The journal “Modern Technologies and Methods of Calculations in Construction” adheres to the principles of academic integrity and upholds standards of scientific publishing. The journal actively addresses violations such as plagiarism, data fabrication, and citation manipulation. All cases of academic misconduct are subject to review, and appropriate measures are taken in accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) standards.
1. Duplicate submission of manuscripts
Authors must submit original manuscripts that are not under consideration by other journals simultaneously. Violations, such as submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals or submitting multiple manuscripts based on the same research, are considered misconduct. Duplicate submission may take various forms:
- literal copying;
- partial but substantial copying;
- paraphrased duplication.
Such violations will result in rejection of the manuscript.
2. Citation manipulation
Any attempts to manipulate citation counts in order to increase references to one’s own work or to articles published in a specific journal are considered unethical. Identified cases of citation manipulation will lead to immediate rejection of the manuscript and may result in sanctions.
3. Data fabrication and falsification
If fabricated or manipulated data are identified in a submitted manuscript, including manipulation of images or experimental results, the manuscript will be rejected. This may also result in serious sanctions, including retraction of an already published article.
4. Investigation and sanctions for violations
In cases of suspected academic misconduct or fraud, the journal conducts a thorough investigation in accordance with COPE and other relevant guidelines. If justified concerns are confirmed, the editorial board contacts the authors to discuss the situation. Based on the investigation, the following actions may be taken:
- if the manuscript is under review, it may be rejected and returned to the author;
- if the article has already been published, a decision on retraction may be made depending on the severity of the violation.
5. Corrections and notices of errors
- corrections may be published if fundamental errors are identified, such as experimental or computational inaccuracies, that do not alter the scientific conclusions but require clarification;
- an erratum is issued when the error is introduced by the journal, for example due to failure to implement author-requested revisions;
- a corrigendum is issued when the error originates from the authors. All corrections must be approved by the editorial board.
6. Procedure for issuing corrections
Corrections may be initiated by authors, editors, or readers. The editorial board evaluates the request, consults with the authors, and, upon approval, publishes the correction as a separate document labeled “Correction” and linked to the original article.
7. Procedure for retraction of published articles
Retraction is an extreme measure and may be applied in the following cases:
- clear evidence that research results are unreliable due to fabrication or data manipulation;
- duplicate publication of results without proper attribution or licensing;
- evidence of plagiarism or authorship misconduct;
- violations of ethical standards during the peer review process.
The decision on retraction is made by the Editor-in-Chief or the Deputy Editor-in-Chief following an investigation.
The retraction process may be initiated by the authors, the editorial board, or third parties providing evidence of violations.
Retraction procedure
- The editorial board appoints a committee to verify the facts. The author is notified of the claim and has the right to provide an explanation.
- If the violation is confirmed, the editorial board makes an official decision to retract the article.
- A Retraction Notice is prepared, stating the reasons for retraction and identifying the individuals or bodies that initiated the process.
Decisions regarding corrections or retractions are made by the editorial board and implemented as promptly as possible after identifying violations. All retracted articles remain openly accessible with a clear “Retraction” label. Complete removal is possible only in exceptional cases, such as legal requirements related to personal data protection, copyright, court decisions, or safety considerations
