On the question of the principles of assessing the fortification structures of Ukraine to identify the possibilities of their effective use in modern conditions

In this article, the author conducts a comprehensive analysis of the basic principles of assessing fortification structures located on the territory of Ukraine in order to identify the maximum possibilities of their use in the modern context of social development.
The purpose of the article is to determine the basic principles for assessing fortification structures on the territory of Ukraine in order to identify the most effective possibilities of their use in modern conditions.
For scientific justification of the inclusion of fortresses in modern life, the author recommends taking into account the following aspects: historical and architectural, urban planning, landscape, engineering and technical, compositional and planning, the aspect of possible use in modern conditions and economic. The author considers the impact of these aspects on the possibilities of research, restoration and the most effective use of monuments of fortification architecture in modern conditions. The author divides defensive monuments into those that have global, national and local significance.
The article notes the impact of the historical and architectural solution of the structure on the possibility of its effective use in modern conditions.
The author draws attention to the influence of urban planning characteristics of castles and fortresses on activity in modern use. The article also analyzes the requirements for location and logistical issues.
Adaptation to modern realities and providing new functions to a fortification structure also depends on the technical and compositional and planning solution. The article also analyzes the problems that arise in the current conditions of design organizations engaged in research activities and restoration and repair works.
