Abstract

The design of new root-harvesting combines, as well as their post-cleaning systems, should be aimed at intensifying the cleaning of plant residues and reducing damage to the root crops themselves. Compliance with these requirements will reduce the removal of the top fertile soil layer from the field to sugar factories and improve the quality of the root crops themselves by reducing their damage, and at the same time increasing the duration of storage.

The proposed design is an improvement of the previous version of the transporter-separator for root crops (patent No. 31875), the disadvantage of which, in our opinion, is that the transporter performs two functions: transportation and cleaning of root crops, while the improved proposed design performs only cleaning. After all, the root crops are in the cells of the wave-shaped holder and are thrown from one to another with the help of a sharp release of the spring-loaded scrapers of the conveyor. As a result, the effort on the drive shaft of the conveyor to passively move root crops uphill is reduced.

The article presents an improved design of the transporter-separator of root crops with a wave-shaped root crop holder. The theoretical justification of its rational design and strength parameters is presented.
