Operations research in the transport systems of international freight transportation is an important tool for improving the efficiency of logistics processes in the context of the globalization of the world economy. International transportation is characterized by complex routes, customs procedures, diverse regulatory requirements of different countries, currency risks, and a high dependence on external factors (political, economic, infrastructural).Operations research methods make it possible to optimize transportation routes, minimize transport costs, reduce delivery time, and increase the reliability of logistics chains. The most commonly applied methods include linear and integer programming, transportation models, network planning, queuing theory, simulation modeling, and heuristic algorithms.Special attention is paid to the problems of selecting the optimal mode of transport (road, rail, sea, air, or multimodal), forming an efficient route network, risk management, and coordination of international logistics flows. The implementation of modern information systems, digital platforms, and monitoring technologies contributes to increased transparency of transportation processes and enhances the efficiency of managerial decision-making.Thus, the application of operations research methods in the field of international freight transportation ensures the rational use of resources, improves the competitiveness of transport enterprises, and promotes the integration of national transport systems into global logistics networks. The article examines the application of operations research methods in the transport systems of international freight transportation. The specific features of the functioning of international transport and logistics systems as complex socio-economic and technical systems are analyzed. The main optimization tasks arising in the process of planning and managing international freight transportation are identified. Particular attention is paid to the use of simulation modeling, optimization methods, and modern information technologies to improve the efficiency of international transport operations. The expediency of the integrated application of operations research methods for managerial decision-making in international transport systems is substantiated.
